Sometimes computers are evil. I tried to use my computer in the evening, and it was running horribly slowly, so I decided it would be a good idea to reboot. Neither half of the reboot was successful. After it failed to shut down on its own, I powered it down by hand. Then I started it up again. When it came up again, it decided that it would let me access my settings, and so it gave me the default settings instead. Fortunately, I have a few backups, one of which I am now using. Well, everything will be ok even if I can’t boot from the old hard drive, but it’s just such a big pain when I’m already extremely busy.

About Simon

Hi. I'm Simon Rubinstein-Salzedo. I'm a mathematics postdoc at Dartmouth College. I'm also a musician; I play piano and cello, and I also sometimes compose music and study musicology. I also like to play chess and write calligraphy. This blog is a catalogue of some of my thoughts. I write them down so that I understand them better. But sometimes other people find them interesting as well, so I happily share them with my small corner of the world.
