My favorite storyteller, Joel Ben Izzy, is coming to UCSB Hillel tonight. It’s a shame that it’s Tuesday and so I have a lot of homework due tomorrow because homework will have to wait. I haven’t heard him for a long time, but I first heard him in 1990 (when I was five years old). Isidore Singer is giving a math talk on Friday, so this week is a good one for talks.

I showed Labutin an early draft of my Haar measure project yesterday. Apparently I’m on the right track. I need to prove a few lemmas and the theorem and put in more examples and then come back some time to get quizzed on the proof next week. I should be able to manage that without too much difficulty.

It seems I will be stuck with another random roommate next year. I’m not looking forward to that one bit. Hopefully I’ll get a random roommate who wakes up early at least.

This is a great piece of music! I don’t know why I haven’t listened to it before given that I have a recording of it.

About Simon

Hi. I'm Simon Rubinstein-Salzedo. I'm a mathematics postdoc at Dartmouth College. I'm also a musician; I play piano and cello, and I also sometimes compose music and study musicology. I also like to play chess and write calligraphy. This blog is a catalogue of some of my thoughts. I write them down so that I understand them better. But sometimes other people find them interesting as well, so I happily share them with my small corner of the world.
