Commence Finals

I just had my first final. It was in Yiddish, which I’m not actually officially taking. It wasn’t too bad. Next comes algebra. As a result of the Putnam, I have great confidence that I can solve anything he puts in front of me in the four hours allotted. I hope that doesn’t come crashing down tomorrow morning.

About Simon

Hi. I'm Simon Rubinstein-Salzedo. I'm a mathematics postdoc at Dartmouth College. I'm also a musician; I play piano and cello, and I also sometimes compose music and study musicology. I also like to play chess and write calligraphy. This blog is a catalogue of some of my thoughts. I write them down so that I understand them better. But sometimes other people find them interesting as well, so I happily share them with my small corner of the world.

Can you petition for credit at UCSB?

    • Simon says:

After the quarter is over, I doubt it. I’m not getting credits for Yiddish because I was unable to make it to the class, but I met the professor once a week so that I could learn the material anyway.

Oh, at UCSC if you didn’t take a class but did the work and exams anyway you can petition to receive credit for it if you did well enough.
Good luck with finals. I’m studying differential equations right now.
